WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?

This role offers an incredible opportunity to gain valuable experience in the transmission lines sector. You'll work alongside a well-established, supportive team who will mentor and help guide your career development. You'll also have the chance to engage in cross-sector collaboration, broadening your skillset and network. With access to opportunities across the wider Ventia team, you can take your career to the next level. Additionally, you'll be supporting a long-term, stable client dedicated to keeping the community powered. As a bonus, you'll enjoy Ventia perks, including health plans with Southern Cross, and the opportunity to travel across the Lower North Island and beyond.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will be responsible for providing onsite engineering, technical support, quality control, and project management assistance or delivery across a range of small and large projects for our Central Lines Team based in Upper Hutt, Wellington.

Some of the key responsibilities include reviewing project design and scope documentation, and actively participating in constructability meetings. The role requires supporting Technical Advisors and Crew Leaders in developing procedures and methodologies, ensuring safe and efficient project execution. This role will also be looking after and delivering technical reports and/or data within the specified timelines. Additionally, providing training on new technologies when they are ready for deployment is a critical aspect of the role.

In this position, you will be working independently and safely within a high voltage Transmission Lines environment, offering onsite technical and testing assistance to Engineers or Ventia field staff as required. In terms of project management, you will be tasked with setting up and running small-scale projects under the supervision of Engineers and Project Managers, monitoring project progress, and reporting on the financial status. Effective communication and coordination with the wider team will be essential to ensure smooth operations and successful project delivery.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate must be capable of working independently under remote supervision, demonstrating a high level of self-motivation and the ability to figure things out autonomously. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. The candidate should be technically competent and able to conduct research and learn on the job as needed.

This is a graduate-level position, and prior exposure or significant interest in the high voltage industry is preferred. A Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, is essential to meet the educational and qualification requirements for this role.
