Job Description
Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

Spotless (a Downer Company) has the contract with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for Facilities Maintenance and Management at four main bases: Linton Military Camp, RNZAF Base Ohakea, Burnham Military Camp and Waiouru Military Training Area, the National Army Museum, and several satellite sites where we deliver a suite of services to support Defence capability.

The primary role of the Electrical Tradesperson is to perform both preventative and reactive electrical maintenance tasks on buildings, plant, and equipment within the scope of this contract, in accordance with the standards prescribed and agreed between the client and Spotless..

Also responsible for:

  • Carry out maintenance and repair activities, within skill set, to meet contract conditions and customer requirements.
  • Assist other staff and clients as required to meet contract requirements.
  • Plan and manage own work to ensure a satisfactory and cost-effective outcome.
  • Provide paperwork including dockets, timesheets, and service sheets in a timely manner.


Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work with a preferred minimum of four years post-trade experience.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Broad experience in the buildings & services industry and good knowledge of building regulations and statutory obligations
  • Detailed understanding of WHS responsibilities and day to day application, e.g., conducting Take 5, completing Safe Work Method Statements
  • Ability to manage / organise work related tasks and good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools and other equipment.
  • Experience in safe use of ladders, portable scaffolds, Elevated Work Platforms and fall restraint/arrest systems.
  • Working at heights
  • Good understanding of WHS requirements for Confined Spaces, preferably with Certificate of Competency to work in confined spaces.
