Job Description
Our Surfacing Division covers maintenance of NZ roads and is looking for an experienced Supervisor to lead our Asphalt crew.

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for the effective management and supervision of the crew carrying out Asphalt Paving activities across the Waikato Region. Based in Hamilton, your role will involve the planning, organising and coordinating the crew and resources, to ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinate, direct and monitor activities of crews and subcontractors to ensure that their work meets project objectives and meets customer expectations
Build and maintain strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders
Optimise resource use to ensure efficiency and achievement of project targets
Support team development by assisting in staff selection, coaching and ongoing training

This role will be ‘hands on’ where you will be providing training and development to your crew so you will need to have a proven track record of supervising teams preferably in paving activities. You’ll also have:

Strong planning and organisational skills
Ability to deal with unexpected events and provide direction
Resilience and tenacity to work in varying environments
Good verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of the laying and compaction of asphalt materials
Knowledge of paving plant operation
Knowledge of asphalt mix designs
Able to undertake site measurement and accurately order materials with minimal wastage
