Job Description

Are you ambitious, passionate, and ready for a new challenge? We are looking for a dedicated caregiver who aspires to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young children. Our tamariki and their whānau are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to building strong, trusting relationships.

What will I be doing?

As a caregiver, you will play a key role in creating a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children feel safe to explore, learn, and grow. You will support their development, encourage curiosity, and foster resilience in a centre that is thriving, well-established, and deeply connected to our community.

We embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. You will have access to professional development, ongoing support, and a team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. If you aspire to take your career to the next level, we are here to support you on that journey.

This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday).

Why choose us?

At BestStart, we are committed to being leaders in early childhood education, where every team member is valued for the positive difference they make. We offer:

  • Professional Development – Learning through Whare Ako, our online learning platform, and support to grow your career
  • Childcare Discounts – Reduced rates for your little ones
  • Health & Wellbeing Support – Subsidised Southern Cross health insurance*, free annual flu vaccinations, and confidential EAP counselling
  • Work-Life Balance – Sick leave available from day one and an extra week of leave for 10 years of service

What are we looking for?

  • A passionate individual who aspires to make a difference in children’s lives
  • Experience working with children under five, particularly infants and toddlers
  • Initiative and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • An ECE qualification is not required, but a natural connection with children is essential
