About the role and who we are looking for:

Medirest are looking for a Permanent Full-Time Kitchen Manager to lead our food services team at Tauranga Hospital. Earn between $32 and $35 per hour, dependent on experience.

The successful candidate should be passionate about food, delivering exceptional customer service and enjoy leading, mentoring and coaching staff. The role needs someone who enjoys taking a collaborative working approach, is able to lead the operational performance of their team - to achieve consistent delivery of the service requirement in accordance with Compass standards and policy. Hours of work are rostered mostly Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work.

The role will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining excellent client and customer relations
  • Leading and managing a team, focusing on providing excellent customer service
  • Monitoring compliance with our Quality Management System and Health & Safety
  • Coordination and management of staff rosters
  • Management of the Quality Assurance Programme


The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have proven capability in the management of staff
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years' experience working in the hospitality industry with Manager and supervisory experience
  • Experience in counter food would be advantageous
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, be customer focused, enthusiastic and willing to take on new challenges
  • Be honest, reliable and mature
