What you'll do
Our new Assistant Category Manager in this fixed term maternity leave cover role will be accountable for driving the buying and merchandising processes across a broad range of products we offer to Woolworths consumers. The key to this role will be managing effective relationships with vendors and negotiating with them as well as developing and procuring the right products to drive our business in line with our Category merchandise needs and strategic objectives.
What you’ll bring
This role will suit someone with some retail based experience, ideally from within FMCG and who will have a desire to hit the ground running. You will have good commercial acumen and previous experience driving new or challenged business initiatives within Woolworths with a proven track record of engaging and influencing key stakeholders of the business.
Some of your new responsibilities will be:
- Delivering customer focused strategy through effective management of product, price, promotion and placement
- Maintaining awareness of product trends, availability, and customer preferences
- Understanding of buying and selling patterns, impacts on the category
- Maintaining high level relationships with vendors and partners
- Collaborating across functions to ensure efficient, on time delivery of products
- Developing longer-term plans and recommendations across products/categories
- Managing and controlling sales to budget
- Assist in Category reviews and buying projects
