Our client is seeking a highly skilled Data Science Manager to lead and develop their in-house data science capabilities, platforms, and standards. This pivotal role will leverage advanced analytics to provide strategic insights and commercially focused recommendations that drive business decisions. The successful candidate will oversee the responsible implementation of AI technologies, including Generative AI, ensuring adherence to AI governance frameworks and ethical standards. They will also play a key role in enhancing AI literacy across the organisation through initiatives such as the Data Science community of practice, workshops, and training programs.

What you'll do:

As a Data Science Manager, you will be at the forefront of technological advancements within our client's organisation. You will be instrumental in driving innovation by leveraging your deep technical expertise in predictive modelling, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Graph Data Science. Your leadership skills will shine as you supervise project-related work for other data scientists while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. You will also play a crucial role in promoting responsible AI by implementing solutions that adhere to ethical standards.

• Contribute significantly to the development and implementation of the AI & Data Science strategy and roadmap.
• Develop and enforce AI governance frameworks to ensure ethical use of AI technologies.
• Promote responsible AI by implementing solutions that adhere to ethical standards.
• Lead initiatives to improve AI literacy across the organisation.
• Supervise project related work to other data scientists.
• Provide deep technical expertise in predictive modelling, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models (LLMs) and Graph Data Science.
• Undertake a training role in area of professional expertise to widen the skills and knowledge of others.
• Resolve any escalated issues and inform the Manager when required.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Data Science Manager position brings a wealth of experience in managing data science projects end-to-end with moderate support. With a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, you have proven commercial experience in statistical and machine learning modelling. Your ability to leverage Generative AI for innovative applications sets you apart from others. You are known for your excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and your ability to interpret complex data. Your strong background in researching and implementing state-of-the-art Generative AI techniques will be invaluable in this role.

• Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline (Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science). Minimum Masters level, PhD preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in a Data Science manager role.
• Proven commercial experience in statistical and machine learning modelling.
• Demonstrated experience delivering data science initiatives from ideation through implementation.
• Proven ability to leverage Generative AI for innovative applications.
• Strong background in researching and implementing state-of-the-art Generative AI techniques.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Highly organised with strong analytical skills.
