Job Description

Are you a hands-on leader ready to drive results in a fast-paced production environment? Dimond Structural, a trusted name in building solutions, is seeking a Production Team Leader, working Monday to Friday 7am – 3.30pm, to join our team in Hornby, Christchurch. Your leadership will play a critical role in ensuring we deliver outstanding service and quality to our customers while fostering a positive and safe workplace culture.

About the Role

As a Production Team Leader, you will oversee frontline team members, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards in safety, quality, and efficiency. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dynamic team, contribute to process improvements, and shape the future of our operations. Responsibilities will include:

  • Champion workplace safety by conducting risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient operation of production machinery, quality checks, and materials handling to meet customer expectations.
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular coaching/mentoring to your teams to enable them to deliver.
  • Lead your team to deliver operational targets (throughput, safety and quality) ensuring safe and efficient behavior at all times, with SOPs and processes adhered to
  • Minimise controllable labour costs while ensuring we deliver on customer promise.
  • Maximise productivity of our assets and equipment
  • Scrap is kept to a minimum in addition to accurate recording of consumption.
  • Ensure all products are produced in spec and meet our quality standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of customer collection and delivery processes (the right product to the right customer within the right time)
  • Ensure use of consumables is in line with policy and all material is accounted for
  • Ensure regular cycle counting and stocktakes are completed


About You

  • We’re looking for a motivated leader with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges, as well as:
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or dispatch environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of high-volume production machinery and quality assurance techniques.
  • A track record of coaching and developing team members to achieve goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude, with flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving production KPIs.
