What you will be doing

We have a great opportunity in our Terminal Operations team for a flexible part-time Transport and Logistic Operator. This role will operate on a guaranteed 24 hours per week basis with a requirement for flexibility to fill additional hours to cover leave periods as well as any ad hoc coverage up to 40 hours per week as and when required. This role plays a crucial part within the team, ensuring that traffic management coverage is seamlessly provided.

Working closely with the wider transport teams our Transport and Logistic Operators will oversee the real-time, day-of-operations traffic flow within the Auckland Airport precinct, ensuring smooth traffic flow and avoiding congestion through immediate decision-making during high-traffic days and the implementation of operational plans.

This role is crucial to ensuring efficient and timely approvals of all Terminal works within the airport including the provision of technical operational inputs to enable the effective operation, management and approval of all Terminal works within the stipulated timeframe.

In this role, you will provide operational technical knowledge in relation to all Terminal Works Endorsement requests, where these would have a direct impact to airport/terminal operations of the Airport, supporting the delivery of the airport’s responsibility to maintain the integrity of Airport assets.

Your key area of responsibilities will be:

  • Live traffic management
  • Real-time decision–making during high-traffic days, ensuring efficient traffic flow
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the Cart Dock, the Greenline Management and Skybus Management
  • Review and facilitate any continuous and process improvements identified in these areas, which may include presenting your findings and recommendations to various leaders in the business.


What you’ll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

  • At least 3 years proven experience in transport operations, transport engineering and/or aviation experience
  • To have worked in a complex high-risk outcome driven operational environment
  • Experience in accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet organisational needs
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organisation, as well as with external stakeholders
  • Ability to think creatively to find solutions within a complex environment
  • Ability to problem solve including investigating, assessing and providing solutions
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting tools would be advantagous
  • To be technically savvy especially with Microsoft Office suite
  • Project management and presentation experience and skills, or at least the desire to learn
