My client is a prominent organisation known for their expertise in delivering essential water and wastewater services. With a high project volume, they offer an exciting and fast-paced work environment where development and learning are encouraged. The team are professional, supportive, and dedicated to engineering excellence.

About the role: This is a 6 month contract. As a Development Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in reviewing and approving designs, managing asset acceptance, and ensuring systems are built to code. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in water and wastewater engineering to take the next step in their career.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Resource Consent Reviews: Confirm system capacity for Resource Consent applications and determine necessary asset modifications when needed
  • Engineering Plan Approvals: Review EPA designs for compliance with the Code of Practice and collaborate with developers to optimise design outcomes
  • Asset Acceptance: Ensure newly constructed assets meet quality standards and are ready for vesting to the client, addressing non-compliant assets as necessary
  • Commercial Connections: Evaluate applications for commercial water and wastewater services, ensuring meters, fire supply connections, and backflow protection devices are suitable


Start Date: ASAP
Days/ Hours: Mon – Fri standard business hours.

About You: You are an experienced engineer with a background in water and wastewater services, ready to tackle a wide range of engineering challenges. Your key attributes include:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification (CPEng is a bonus).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with both developers and contractors
  • Desirable: Consulting or construction management experience
